Wine and dine your valentine

We've got your dinner covered this Tuesday -- whether you have a date or not. Now all you have to do is figure out who gets to spend V-Day with you. On a First Date Where: Positano Coast by Aldo Lamberti, 212 Walnut Street, 2nd Floor, (215) 238-0499 Price: Entrees $11-$28 Reason to Go: Positano Coast is everything a romantic first date should be: good wine, fantastic fresh seafood choices and great views of Society Hill.

Quick kaiseki kick

Highlights: Stephen Starr at reasonable prices; Speedy service Drawbacks: Limited vegetarian options Price range: Lunch menu: $12-$14 You might think that dining at a Stephen Starr restaurant, even for lunch, is all glitz and no real value.

Malaysian heat

Chinatown's culinary star is found just beyond its arched gateway. Penang, a Malaysian metallic wonderland, is the perfect spot for the young and adventurous to have a fantastic meal. The vaulted ceilings and exposed metal pipes are celebrated, not obscured, by the emphasis on silver in its decor.

Sangria Savvy

If you're looking for a different happy hour scene but don't want to spend the cash for a cab, walk north on 36th to Zocalo for killer drinks and satisfying food. Time: Weekdays, 4:30-6:30. Drink: All drinks on the menu are 25% off and include beer ($2.50-$3.50/bottle), sangria ($4.50-$6/glass), wine ($5.50-$6) and margaritas ($5-$6.50). The Zocalo sangria, laced with tequila-macerated strawberries and seasonal fruit, is divine and potent.

Fine dining on a dime

Even if your parents won't be in town this weekend, treat yourself to one of Philly's prime culinary hot spots without breaking the bank, thanks to these little-known steals. Morimoto 723 Chestnut Street (215) 413-9070 Futuristic and trendy Morimoto is the collaboration of renowned restaurateur Stephen Starr and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto.

Live jams and yams

Past Delilah's and Finnigan's Wake, down 3rd Street in Northern Liberties, lies a nondescript building on a desolate block, identifiable only by a blue hand-painted sign.
