Facebook wants our religious views. Our hometowns, the languages we know. It wants our relationship statuses, our favorite movies — and now it wants our soundtracks.
We caught up with the heads of a couple Penn organizations that work to give back to the community and educate the student body in the process. Wanting to be as inspired as they are, we asked them to share the movies that opened their eyes to global issues.

Street: You say most of your work is “place_oriented.” What does that mean to you, and what are some examples of projects?
Kelsey Halliday Johnson: Each body of work I make situates itself within a given site (historical or literal) and becomes a kind of investigation of the cultural or social histories that lie within the landscape or particular place.
I entered my undergraduate degree planning to major in geosciences, so the physical environment has always been a sincere interest of mine.
Many a film — no, not just Michael Moore's fiery docs — have left us moved by what we've seen on screen and eager to make a difference in the world. Here's to taking that initiative past the two–hour viewing experience and doing some actual good, here, at Penn. Let us connect the dots for you.
