In a world of dating apps promising compatibility through vague algorithms and generic filters, Quickmeets dares to be different. Founded by Louis Chung (C ‘24), a recent Penn graduate, Quickmeets is rewriting the rules of online matchmaking. Powered by cutting–edge artificial intelligence and designed exclusively for college students, it’s the ultimate blend of technology, personalization, and fun.

Louis isn’t new to the entrepreneurial world. As a team member of Kfans, a K–pop and K–drama fan community app, he gained tens of thousands of users worldwide with minimal marketing. Now, with Quickmeets, Louis is drawing from his experience and leveraging his influence as a content creator with thousands of followers in the K–pop and K–drama fandom to provide a built–in platform to reach Generation Z.

At the heart of Quickmeets is its revolutionary approach: using an AI–driven algorithm that sends matches based on visual preferences. Imagine being able to upload a picture of your celebrity crush—say, someone like Timothée Chalamet or Zendaya—and letting the app analyze your preferences through state–of–the–art facial recognition technology. In seconds, the AI compares this input to profiles of other verified college students and delivers one personalized match per day.

Louis’ journey with Quickmeets began humbly. During a soft launch at Penn, the app was initially designed to help students find study buddies and engage with gamified polls. This early iteration allowed Louis to test the waters, gather feedback, and refine his vision.

But the mission was always bigger. “I’ve always wanted Quickmeets to be the future of social discovery,” Louis says. “Loneliness is a growing issue, especially among young people, and I wanted to build something truly magical—an app that uses AI to bring people together in a way that feels genuine and exciting.”

“This is hyper–personalization at its finest,” Louis explains. “We’re leveraging technology to accomplish something that once seemed impossible—finding someone based on preferences words can’t fully express.”

The technology has already proven its merit during testing. Louis shares an anecdote from an early trial. “We uploaded a celebrity crush and had a dataset of 50–100 images. From a human eye, one person stood out as resembling the celebrity most. When we ran the AI, it identified the exact same person. This happened repeatedly, showing that the technology works at a human level—not just random guesses.”

Unlike traditional dating apps that rely on generic filters like age and distance, Quickmeets offers a truly tailored experience. Users receive just one match per day—shifting the focus from endless swiping to meaningful anticipation. “There’s something special about looking forward to that one match, about finding quality over quantity,” Louis says.

Quickmeets also prioritizes safety and authenticity, issues that Louis claims “plague mainstream dating apps.” Every user is verified through their “.edu” email address, ensuring the app remains exclusive to college students. “No fake profiles, no bots, no creepy interactions—just real people looking to connect.”

The app’s exclusivity creates a unique sense of community, allowing students to interact not only within their campuses but across the country and eventually the world. “You know the person on the other side of the match is legit because they’re verified,” he says. “It’s seamless, safe, and designed for Gen Z.”

“I believe in the power of free marketing through genuine connection,” Louis says. “Quickmeets is all about creating something fun and relatable for our generation.”

Quickmeets is more than just a dating app—it’s innovation. With features like a ten–minute window to respond to matches (a nod to the spontaneity of BeReal), the app keeps things fast–paced, engaging, and fresh. While the concept is novel, the vision is clear: to redefine how young people discover meaningful connections in a safe, personalized, and exciting way.

“Quickmeets is the first app of its kind,” Louis says. “It’s fun, innovative, and tailored to the way Gen Z connects. There’s nothing like it out there.”

With plans to expand beyond the United States, Quickmeets is poised to become the go–to platform for college students worldwide. For Louis and his team, this is just the beginning of a journey that’s as much about solving loneliness as it is about celebrating the magic of connection.
