April Fools' Day is right around the corner. This celebration occurs annually on April 1st and is known for jokes and pranks. What better way is there to celebrate than to explore the diverse Philly comedy scene? Honor April Fools' by attending one (or more) of the plethora of hilarious comedy shows happening in Philadelphia in early April.
On Tuesday, April 2, the Barbary Dance and Night Club will be hosting a comedy event in honor of April Fools' Day. Funny Bull Quill will be headlining, accompanied by Drew Beans and others. Doors to the event will open at 8:00 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at the door for $20, or here for $15.
Chelsea Handler’s Sit–Down Comedy Tour
Don’t miss this beloved comedian’s show in Philadelphia. Chelsea Handler, the former host of E!’s Chelsea Lately and star of Chelsea Does will be making a stop in Philly on Friday, April 12 as part of her Sit–Down Comedy Tour. The event will take place at the Met Philly, and tickets can be purchased here, starting at $68.75. Plus, since the tour is promoting her new bestseller Life Will Be the Death of Me, each ticket will include a copy of the book.
Robert Ecks, a self–described "collection of atoms based out of Philadelphia," will be performing at Good Good Comedy Theater. On Thursday, April 11, you can watch "a late night talk show of uneducated advice on this new sex thing everyone’s talking about! Learn up on the birds and bees and everything in between..." The event starts at 8:00 p.m., and $5 tickets can be purchased here.
Comedians AK, Sabeen, and Sharup explore the question “Where are you from?” in this show that will make you laugh and think. Drawing from their Muslim–American, immigrant backgrounds, they explore the concept of identity through the lens of humor. The event will take place Friday, April 5 from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at CSz Philadelphia on Sansom Street. Tickets can be purchased for $15 here.
Sad Boys Rugby Club, a Philly improv group, is hosting its “Party With the Sad Boys” comedy event on Friday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. You can expect “a character–based improv form where a bunch of improvisers act like weirdos at a party.” The event will take place at the Good Good Comedy Theater, and you can buy tickets here for $7.
