Welcome! This is the application to join 34th Street Magazine staff for the spring 2019 semester.
Who are we? So glad you asked. 34th Street is Penn’s premiere student magazine. We publish daily content including longform features, first–person narratives, arts and culture coverage, and student spotlights. The opportunities are endless: you can write cover stories, help envision marketing campaigns, design and layout issues, attend press movie screenings, and so much more.
We need writers, videographers, photographers and social media whizzes just like you! So come on, we promise the application isn't THAT long. This form will stay open until 11:59 p.m. on January 27. We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as possible!
You'll be expected to be signed on for the entire semester—until early May. This includes attending weekly staff meetings plus any department–specific meetings that your editors may schedule. We'll have lots of social events peppered in through the semester, too. It's gonna be a wet 'n' wild ride.
Those who apply during break and are accepted should attend training, a.k.a "Street Retreat" starting on January 14 at 10 a.m.. If you are not able to make this, you will be required to attend training sessions after all of staff is hired. For those who apply during or after break and are accepted or who can't attend the earlier training, a required training session will take place towards the end of January.
Please reach out to Street Editor–in–Chief Annabelle Williams (williams@34st.com) with any questions or concerns you may have.
