With the passing of October, the seasonal mood has shifted from jack–o–lanterns and skeletons to a more wintery and jolly spirit, and Dilworth Park is kicking off the holiday spirit with the Fire and Ice Celebration. This weekend, on Saturday Nov. 10, the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute Ice Rink will open for the season, beginning with a fiery twist.
Along with ice skating on the Rothman Rink, the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute Cabin right next to it will be offering activities such as firework effects, chili tastings from local Philly restaurants, and fire performances to help warm up skaters. There will also be different cocktails, hot cider, and craft beers available in the cabin for purchase.
Once warmed up, skaters will be able to enjoy the ice rink and ice sculptures, all accentuated with snow to create a real–life winter wonderland.
Admission to the celebration will be $5 per person and $3 for children ten and under. The rink will open to the public and skates will be offered to rent for $10 per person. Activities in the cabin will start at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 and end at 2:00 p.m.
While the Fire and Ice Celebration is only here for the weekend, the fun won't stop—the cabin will host Quizzo on every Tuesday evening and host Happy Hours on Wednesdays. The rink and cabin will stay open all the way through Feb. 24. But don't miss the opportunity to kick off the rink’s opening at Fire and Ice for a hot spin on ice skating.
