If you're looking for a distraction during finals week or an excuse to meet up with a friend over the summer, look no further. Here's a list of the eight most anticipated movies of summer 2018. Whether you're into animations, superheroes, comedies, thrillers, romances, or musicals, 2018 has something for you.

Avengers: Infinity War

Release Date: April 23

The Avengers join together once again to fight their biggest enemy: Thanos. As Thanos tries collecting all six Infinity Stones to mess up the world, the fate of humanity is in danger (as usual). Watch the Avengers in what seems to be their final battle (spoiler alert: there's a fourth movie coming out next year) and pretend to be surprised when they most likely beat the enemy.

Deadpool 2

Release Date: May 18

Jokes about gluten and man–buns. That's why you should watch this. If you're looking for a movie that combines action and comedy that will make you choke on your own laughter, watch Deadpool and other superheroes fight for some random kid's life. Also, there are WOMEN who fight alongside Deadpool, which is refreshing. Furthermore, Ryan Reynolds.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Release Date: May 25

If you thought Disney couldn't make more movies with this series… you were wrong. Watch young Han Solo as he meets Chewbacca and attempts to become the best pilot in the entire galaxy after being kicked out of flight school. Same great soundtrack and weird Chewbacca noises we all know and love. Also, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Need we say more?

OCEAN'S 8

Release Date: June 8

Sandra Bullock AND Cate Blanchett AND Anne Hathaway AND Mindy Kaling AND (somehow) Rihanna. Watch con artist Debbie Ocean and her friends try to steal a necklace worth $150 million at New York's annual Met Gala. If you liked the Ocean's Eleven series, you are almost certainly going to like this.

The Incredibles 2

Release Date: June 15

"Honey, where's my super suit?" If The Incredibles was part of your childhood, you know you had a good childhood. I'm not going to be surprised when I go to the movie theater and there are only 20–year–olds excited about reviving the days when we didn't have to worry about picking a major or finding a job. If you thought raising angsty teenagers and a baby sounded difficult, try raising angsty teenagers and a baby who can burn down your house.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Release Date: June 22

After the Jurassic World park was destroyed, Owen and Claire go back to Isla Nublar to save dinosaurs from an imminent volcano eruption. When they get there, they discover new types of very scary dinosaurs as well as a conspiracy that endangers the entire planet. More importantly, however, dinos AND Chris Pratt!

Hotel Transylvania 3

Release Date: July 13

Turns out the new movie doesn't actually have much to do with hotels… it's on a cruise! After all his hard work in the hotel, it seems Drac has decided to go on a vacation himself. However, things take a turn for the worse when Mavis discovers Drac has fallen in love with the ship's captain, who also has a secret that can end monster–kind. Which, for us, means relatable family trip jokes and fun background music.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!

Release Date: July 20

Wondering what happened to Sophie after marrying the man of her dreams? Well, she got pregnant. Hopefully they know who the dad is this time! The sequel to Mamma Mia is all about Sophie getting closer to her mom, Donna, because she needs help dealing with her pregnancy. Get ready for more people breaking out into song (without any rehearsal!) and Greek island aesthetics as we flash back to Donna's teenage life and romances on screen.
