You need:

1. sand 2. seashells 3. a wooden picture frame 4. scissors 5. a paintbrush 6. hot glue gun 7. liquid glue (Elmer’s or another brand) 8. frayed string or rope (optional)

1. Pour liquid glue onto the frame and spread it evenly with a paintbrush.

2. Pour sand over the gluey frame so that the entire frame is covered. Let it dry for five minutes.

3. Start arranging the shells on top of the frame. Add hot glue underneath and at the shells’ sides to secure them in place.

4. Continue hot–gluing the shells, and fill in all gaps. Make it symmetrical.

5. Optional: Hot–glue some frayed string or rope to the frame’s edges for an added nautical effect.

6. Place a summer picture in the frame and try not to cry too hard about the fact that the semester just started and you’ve already lost your tan.
