Philadelphia Night Market June 20 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Cost: Pay as you go 72nd & Ogontz Avenues Philadelphia's most prominent street food festival, the Philly Night Market, will be returning tonight at 72nd and Ogontz Avenues. From 6-10 p.m., you will be able to find samplings of Philly's ethnic restaurants and food trucks. The market is sponsored by the Food Trust and is an awesome opportunity to sample all that Philly food you've been meaning to try. Local musicians will also be providing entertainment.
Manna's 1st Annual Guac-Off Sunday, June 23 1-4 p.m. Cost: $20 Fleisher Art Memorial, 719 Catharine St. Manna, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serve those who are at acute nutritional risk or suffering a life-threatening illness, is sponsoring Philadelphia's first annual guac-off. That means there is literally going to be a festival where all you do is eat guacamole. It's an amateur festival, but $20 will buy you all you can guac and provide 6 meals to a person in need. You also get the opportunity to vote for the best guacamole in town.
Manayunk Arts Festival June 23 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., June 24 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Cost: Free! Main Street in Manayunk The 24th annual Manayunk Arts Festival will be taking place this weekend in, you guessed it, the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia. The festival is the largest outdoor, juried art festival in the area and will feature almost 300 different artists this year. The artwork will be displayed along historic Main street in Manayunk and the festivities start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.Daniel Tosh @ the Tower Theatre June 20 7 p.m. & 9:30 p.m. Cost: $49.50 and up 69th & Ludlow streets in Upper Darby Don't you hate it when you're watching those stand up comedians on TV and they're all like, "Buy my tickets to come see me at (enter literally any venue in all of Los Angeles)"? And it's just like, "Well I live 3,000 miles away so I guess I won't be seeing you!" This week, that is not the case — stand-up comedian and Tosh.0 host Daniel Tosh will be gracing the Tower Theater in Upper Darby with his presence. Tickets are a pretty hefty $50 for both the 7 and 9:30 p.m. showings, but there's really not too many opportunities to see famous stand up comics around here. Oh, and even though it's technically in Upper Darby, this is actually a lot closer than some other Philly neighborhoods.
Awesomefest Presents '80s themed free outdoor film series at Drexel Park Every Thursday at dusk, starting tonight Cost: Free! Drexel Park, 32nd & Powelton streets The Awesomefest is presenting you with a 10-week city-wide music & film festival to celebrate the decade of big hair. Every Thursday will feature an '80s movie screening at Drexel Park and it kicks off this week with Revenge of the Nerds. Movies will be projected onto a 30 foot outdoor screen, and hey, it's free.
