Although “The Way” debuted in March, Ariana Grande’s pop ballad was certified platinum this past Monday — and we’re far from surprised. Featuring Mac Miller and sampling from the late Big Pun’s “Still Not a Player,” “The Way” gives us a summer jam worthy of keeping on repeat. Grande and Miller have a great chemistry (check out the music video to see their on-camera lip lock) between Grande’s lyrics of “I got a bad boy/I must admit it/you got my heart/don’t know how you did it” and Miller’s addition of “Come here/ watch a movie with me/ ‘American Beauty’ or ‘Bruce Almighty’/ that’s groovy” the song keeps an upbeat and enjoyable melody. Although Grande is currently starring on Nickelodeon, her vocal talent is far from juvenile and has been compared to R&B legend and notorious diva Mariah Carey. Tween celeb turned pop sensation (and only 19!), Grande is one to look out for. So go ahead and download it, add it to your summer playlist and enjoy your new summer anthem — you’re welcome.
