Due to funding issues, Cinefest, Philadelphia’s annual 12-day film festival, was cancelled back in January. However, the Philadelphia Film Society will be hosting a short festival April 9-11. Check out the schedule and reserve free tickets online at filmadelphia.org. Don’t worry, even if seats run out, there is still hope! Rush lines will form an hour before each film and unclaimed tickets will be given away then.
What we’re excited for:
The Good, the Bad, and the Weird
A Korean take on the classic Eastwood spaghetti Western, this film won raves at Cannes and even inspired Variety to coin the term “kimchee western.”
Tales from the Golden Age
The newest from Romania’s New Wave, the film adapts tales from popular urban myths and captures the mood of a country under totalitarianism.
The Square
This Australian film noir is being declared a classic of the genre. It follows an adulterous couple whose plan to get rid of their spouses goes terribly wrong.
April 9-11
Prince Music Theater
1412 Chestnut St.
Free admission — but make sure to reserve tickets online at filmadelphia.org
