If you’re a really ambitious crafter, you can buy wire, beads and pliers at a craft store to create earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces for the women in your life. But if you’re not so artistically inclined, it’s okay to get some help!
Check out Beadworks at 619 E. Passayunk Ave., just off of South and 5th Streets. You can waltz in without a clue, demanding materials to make your own earrings and the staff will make doing so incredibly easy. Given two large headpins ($1), you can choose from a wall of beads sorted by color in little boxes, each with a label and price per bead, ranging from around 15 cents for small ones to a little over a dollar for the big ones.
After sliding on the beads of your choice, you take your creations over to the counter, where the helpful store clerk will neatly tie off the ends and attach hooks ($2.15) for you. Our total came out to $9.61, but the price can vary depending on the size and number of your beads.
