For a decadent Valentine’s Day treat that’s as easy to make as it is to eat, try this classic treat for your (Swiss) miss. For dipping, also try orange slices, pound cake, raspberries or marshmallows.
Ingredients: 3 ounces bittersweet chocolate 1/4 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon unsalted butter 1 tablespoon brandy or red wine 1 box strawberries 1 box store-bought meringues (try Trader Joe’s)
Directions: Finely chop chocolate and place into a small bowl. In a saucepan, bring butter, cream and cooking alcohol to a simmer over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate until melted and smooth. Transfer to a fondue pot over a medium flame, or a warm bowl if your kitchen isn’t fully stocked with Swiss cooking supplies. Serve the meringues and strawberries on a platter, and dip into melted chocolate. Warning: if you are not using a fondue pot over a flame, the chocolate will harden in about 20 minutes.
