As New York Fashion Week comes to a close and temperatures on the East Coast begin to drop, it's time to finish assembling your fall wardrobe. Not surprisingly, jeans are still in. Along Locust Walk and down the halls of Van Pelt, Penn kids are starting to ditch the shorts, skirts and mini-dresses in favor of ubiquitous denim bottoms. Jeans of the skinny, wide-leg and brightly colored variety seem to be taking the stage. No longer cool: regular, run-of-the-mill blue jeans. We always liked extremes.

Speaking of jeans, and speaking of comebacks: the return of Denim. A group of "wise" men made a valiant effort last week to return the Thursday night downtown crowd to the dungarees-inspired nightclub of years past. Seniors relived the glory days, and freshmen bribed bouncers for entry. In short, the same as any other downtown affair.

In a slightly less fashionable turn for jeans, Theos' "White Trash Bash" on Saturday night saw the unfortunate appearance of cutoff jean shorts and denim vests. Bottom-shelf liquor added a particularly classy touch.

Elsewhere on campus, performing arts groups traded in the cool of blue (denim, that is) for some other telling colors. As performing arts groups initiated new members last week, faces turned red as a result of embarrassment, or in some cases green, as a result of alcohol intoxication. Everyone's just in search of the perfect fit, aren't they?
