When girlfriend Donnie Johnson was asked to be EOTW last spring, Ruben "Silent H" Henriquez ever-so-nicely hid his disappointment at being overlooked. Finally, he got cool and we noticed. We sat down with the senior Mask and Wig member to chat croquet, armless men and caffeine addiction.
Street: What's the soundtrack to your life?
Ruben Henriquez: If I had it my way, I'd have a guy follow me around with a guitar and just change it up a lot.
Street: There are two kinds of people at Penn.
RH: Those who can come up with good answers for these types of questions and those who can't. I'm working on being in the former group.
Street: Who's the coolest person you've ever met?
RH: This guy named Burt Shrinkton. I met him a few years ago in Guam while I was there on a bird watching trip. He was blind and had no arms to hold up binoculars. Great guy. I hope everyone one day gets to meet Burt.
Street: Do you sing in the shower?
RH: No, but I do put on sketch comedy shows in there.
Street: What's the best part of being in Mask and Wig?
RH: If I were gay, I'd say being with 40 guys all the time. But I'm not, so I'll say the sheer uniqueness of the Club. I get to experience something that only 40 out of 10,000 people at Penn get to do.
Street: Your Facebook profile says you're a lover of list-making. What's the most interesting list you've made thus far and why?
RH: Once, I had so many to-do lists lying around that I made a to-do list of all the other to-do lists. I had so many that I couldn't keep track of them all.
Street: What's the best invention?
RH: The best invention ever would have to be coffee. Definitely, coffee.
Street: If you could have it your way, would the 'H' in Henriquez be silent?
RH: If I ad it my way, tat letter wouldn't exist. I tink it's te worst letter in te world.
Street: What's the best part of being a frat boy?
RH: I actually didn't rush. I joined the Penn co-ed croquet team.
