4/4: Handsome Furs North Star Bar, 21+ One of the best new offerings from the beleaguered Canadian indie rock scene, Handsome Furs succeeds by avoiding the over-instrumentation that spelled death for many other Wolf Parade member collabs. Handsome Furs has spot-on builds, good synth composition and crunchy guitar licks - the ingredients for a great show. $10.
4/5: Pilam's Human BBQ Pilam, All Ages Come join Penn's annual celebration of music, dancing and the smell of burning flesh. Pilam's Human BBQ is pulling out all the stops this year with favorites A Place to Bury Strangers, Japanther and Oxford Collapse. For those looking to dance your face off, B'more party rockers Dave Nada and Cullen Stalin (of the Taxlo collective) will keep you sweating into the wee hours of the morning. Tasty. $12.
4/7: Wolf Eyes w/ Tenspeed, Angel of Decay Johnny Brenda's, 21+ Perennial leaders of noise rock and experimental music, Wolf Eyes has perfected a distinctly ominous sound that is more soundscape than melody. They are notorious for their live shows where brooding and thrashing abound, and hodge-podge heaps of electronics are calibrated to test your musical mettle. $10.
4/8: Man Man w/ The Dirty Projectors, The Extraordinaires Starlight Ballroom, All Ages Philly's own Man Man has a way with hometown crowds, stirring up fans at their psychedelic-tinged romps, like a bubbling pot of borscht. Airy and progressive, the opening Dirty Projectors might make this a wild show that it would be a shame to miss. $10.
