If you are looking for a bar experience unlike any other, look no further than Mahogany on Walnut. Known for being the only cigar bar in town, the bar serves as a plush playground for Philadelphia bigwigs. The atmosphere is elegant and refined and makes you feel like you are in the library of an English manor, which perfectly complements the drink menu that offers a wide selection of whiskies, brandies and wines.
The 1979 Pedro Ximenez Gran Reserva is a dark dessert wine recommended by the bartender, which at first would not seem to be an ideal cigar pairing. On its own, this sherry is very sweet and almost syrupy, which may not be pleasant for most palettes. However, when combined with the rich smoke of your favorite cigar, the sweetness of the wine is seamlessly mellowed out. This is an ideal option to keep in mind if you cannot stomach scotch or port.
As you can imagine, Mahogany does not cater to the college crowd; it's a bit pricey and the clientele is typically much older. However, if you have a reason to splurge, this is the place to do it.
