Mission Grill offers an excellent $30 prix fixe menu on Sunday nights that, while lacking the variety of some Restaurant Week menus, makes up for it with tequila - and lots of it.
Along with the three-course meal, Mission Grill halves the prices of all of its premium tequilas and its wine list. If you're in the mood to get tipsy, try a flight of tequila, in which you can choose three different options from their extensive list.
To prepare your stomach for the onslaught of shots, start yourself off with the house-specialty guacamole, salsa, and ceviche plate, which is served alongside delectably thick and crunchy chips. The prix fixe menu on the night we visited included a perfectly seared appetizer of guajillo (a type of chili)-encrusted tuna on a tiny bed of baby green salad with a sweet chili vinaigrette. The entr‚e was a juicy roasted beef tenderloin served with wild mushroom risotto, asparagus and baby squash. The dessert was nothing to speak of - a rather uninspired vanilla flan served with fresh fruit and chocolate sauce. But by the time you make it to dessert, you won't remember it anyway.
The service is good without being overly attentive. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a charming southwestern theme. Mission Grill is a bit off the beaten path, but assuredly a restaurant to put on your list if you're looking for good food and drinks at a great price. And did we mention there's tequila?
