Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf indeed? Well, one may think, "Hey, I'm not!" from looking at the small stage of the Walnut Street Theater located between 8th and Walnut. It is a small room on the fifth floor that could probably be filled by your writing seminar. However, that thought would disappear from your mind immediately when the play begins.

Written by Edward Albee and easily his most famous play, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is a dramatic take on the inner workings of two marriages that includes everything from scandalous crotch grabbing to fake pregnancies. The actors Allison Green, David Hutchman, Darin Dunston and Amy Newman -- all of extraordinary talent -- take you on an emotional rollercoaster that will have you at the edge of your seat (and not just from having to go to the bathroom).

Most enthralling of all, the lead actress -- Green, who plays Martha -- gives an award-winning performance. Throughout her career, she has appeared in over 135 plays and has studied with some of the finest actors of our time including Laurence Olivier (come on now, you know who that is don't you?) and Ben Kingsley. Her talent is even "scary" says Luna Theater Company Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Gregory Campbell, who admits that after planning for two years to revive this play, "we wouldn't have done it at all if Allison couldn't play Martha."

However Ms. Green was not the only one to give a spectacular performance. Hutchman, who plays Martha's husband, George, also grabs the audience's attention with his striking expressions and passionate soliloquy. With his performance on stage and interaction with the other characters, one could definitely see the "family-esque" dynamic of the actors that Mr. Campbell talked about. So turn off Napoleon Dynamite, which you've seen 300 times already, and go see "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," because it has delivered at the Luna Theater Company.
