Even in the glorious neighborhood of Old City, one reaches the point of excess vintage shops. With so little time, one must pick and choose, and choose well. Enter Sandy and Jenny Martin, the mother-daughter tag-team of funky flavor and owners of Lost and Found. The store has been around for the past few years, but April marks the opening of its new location between Arch and Race -- not far from the 2nd street subway stop. This hip neighborhood, home to last year's Real World crew, is crawling with young fashionistas -- Penn girls will feel right at home.
Last April also marked the addition of new clothing among the racks of second-hand finds. Some of the more well-known labels include Hazel, Industry, Penguin and Redsand for clothing, Seychelles and Me Too for shoes. Upcoming merchandise includes tops and tees from L.A.-based Language, and shoes by Irregular Choice hailing from London. Styles vary from girly-sequined dresses and going-out tanks to furry sweaters and casual hoodies. The store also carries an array of accessories including handbags, hats and jewelry. As for the vintage, the clothes are not put on the racks as is -- Jenny also reworks some of the pieces by adding unique cutouts and embroidery.
Don't hesitate to bring your beau either, there's plenty for the fellas. He can find vintage winter coats and blazers, sweaters, cardigans, and bowling shirts. Each piece has that "favorite sweater" feel. Trendy boys will jump at the opportunity to perfect their outfit with a superfly belt buckle.
The Martins' goal is to provide its customers with fab clothing for moderate prices. Now who can resist supporting such a worthy cause?
