Best episode: The boys go on a mission to return The Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers Video Store. But this is no ordinary copy -- it's really Backdoor Sluts 9. The evil sixth graders and the boys' parents all try to get their hands on the tape. Meanwhile J.R.R. Tolkien spins in his grave.
Anne Henochowitz (Interview): Spongebob Squarepants
Best episode: Spongebob forgets how to tie his shoes, and becomes frantic when he figures out that no one in Bikini Bottom can tie them either.
Janice Hahn (Guides): Batman: The Animated Series
Best episode: "The Cat and Claw" episode, where Catwoman and Batman first meet. Bruce Wayne was hot and there was so much sexual tension. Yeah, I picked up on that as a 12-year old.
Kevin Lo (Voice): Animaniacs
Best episode: "Good Idea, Bad Idea." Good Idea: "Playing catch with your grandpa."(Shows two skeletons playing catch.) Bad Idea: "Playing catch WITH your grandpa." (Shows a skeleton throwing his grandpa's head.)
Corey Hulse (Web): School House Rock
Best episode: The moment when the bill became a law brought tears to my eyes. Also, when Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla found a kangaroo and then they started replacing proper nouns with pronouns was a turning point in my childhood.
Maggie Hennefeld (Film): South Park
Best episode: Cartman has a tea party with his stuffed animals, including Polly Prissypants, Clyde Frog and Peter Panda.
Clare O'Connor (T.V.): Family Guy
Best episode: The Griffins unwittingly become their own reality show. Meg quits the family and her role is re-cast with a slutty blonde. The entire family is re-cast with -- who else? --Tom Arnold and Fran Drescher. The real Griffins move into a hotel.
Yona Silverman (Managing): Daria
Best episode: Arts 'N' Crass. Daria and Jane enter a poster contest by drawing a beautiful girl looking in the mirror, with a caption reading "She knows she's a winner, she couldn't be thinner. Now she goes in the bathroom, and vomits up dinner." The authorities try and enter the poster into the contest without the bottom line, but Daria and company fight back. And win. Daria's awesome.
Jim Newell (Music): South Park
Best episode: Cartman indirectly makes Scott Tenorman eat his parents, then Radiohead show up and call Tenorman a loser repeatedly. It's really outrageous, but classic.
Kali Backer (Guides): Alvin and the Chipmunks
Best episode: When the Chipmunks play a show in Japan, and they need to add some pizzazz to the show, so they dress up as Kabuki actors.
Grant Ginder (Food and Drink): Thundercats
Best episode: Any episode. Any moment. Lion-O and Cheetrah wielding the Sword of Omens against the evil Mumm-Ra? You can't beat that shit.
Mawuse Ziegbe (Style): Daria
Best episode: When the whole family goes camping in the woods and eats psychotropic berries. Jane and Trent go to the family reunion and meet all of their dysfunctional family.
Nickie Huang (Food and Drink)
Best episode: Nickie's too cool to follow the rules
Jem and the Holograms is the most astounding, visionary cartoon of all time, but more importantly, the most doable animated characters are: Ryu from Street Fighter, Trent from Daria, Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mr.T, any of the non-Americans on G.I. Joe and Captain Planet. If you're into that whole 2-D thing, anyway.
