If you're looking to get some wind in your face -- and if letting the El rush past you just isn't cutting it -- take a trip to Six Flags Theme Park before the summer packs up and leaves. Just make sure that there isn't a cloud in the sky.
Superman Ultimate Flight is the park's best rollercoaster, letting riders hang from harnesses and fly for the length of the ride. The popular attraction is intimidating -- especially because of the puke overhangs that protect those waiting in line -- but worthwhile for those who can stomach the ride's unique perspective. Completing the superhero quota for the park is the equally entertaining Batman the Ride, which is rather traditional compared to Superman's ride, but still a thrill. For old school riders, The Great American Scream Machine, a Six Flags mainstay, is as good as ever.
One of the park's newest attractions, the SpongeBob SquarePants 3-D Ride, was amusing, but not worth the hype. If you've ever been on a 3-D Ride, this one is only unique for simulating what it must feel like to ride a mechanical bull. For SpongeBob fans, however, this 3-D ride is a must.
Six Flags is a particularly appealing summer destination for college students because of its many deals. Go to WaWa and pick up a can of coke. You'll have a buy one, get one half-off coupon in your hands once you finish drinking it. Still, if you're planning a trip to the Six Flags park in Jackson, NJ, be sure to find a day with clear skies. Once it starts to rain, many of the park's attractions begin to shut down, and the trip quickly becomes miserable.
