A few blocks to the west of the drones of Rosengarten reserve and the intense study quarters of Lippincott rests Penn's newest locale for off-campus studying. As part of 40th Street's latest renaissance, the newest installment of Bucks County Coffee recently opened, providing a quaint spot to dine, sip some gourmet coffee and crack those books of yours. The perfect go-to spot for many living off-campus, the coffee-shop atmosphere is much larger than the original Sansom location. It is also much more conducive to studying -- with its options to sit by the fire or plug in your computer at one of the long desk-like tables, ideal for both lounging and studying, or even lounging while studying.
@Street Text:While the other Bucks County Coffee is mainly frequented by graduate students -- due to its location just across from the Law School -- this new space is twice as large and offers far more than just hot brews, to make it more than just a coffee shop.
Buck's coffee tends to get on the expensive side. Depending on what you like in your cup of joe, coffees range from $1.30 to about $5, the extra expense being for syrups, extra shots of espresso and different kinds of milk. Nevertheless, the ambience is perfect for getting away from campus for a bit without feeling guilty that you aren't getting any work done.
Not only does Bucks offer specialty coffees daily, but it also packs its counters with study snacks -- nuts, candy and the like -- for you to enjoy on the run, at class or even while sipping on your latt‚. Breakfast pastries and muffins can be enjoyed all day long, as can egg and cheese sandwiches and an assortment of Hershey's ice creams. Aside from breakfast treats, pre-packaged sandwiches and salads are also offered, though Buck's specialty is definitely its breakfast fare.
While it would be nice if Buck's could keep later hours for students stumbling out of the movie theaters and bars, its 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekday hours and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday hours ensure the cafe keeps its strong hold on students' prime working and studying hours. Wireless Internet access is available for those who bring computers. With the combination of bright lighting and countless ways to enjoy your daily dose of caffeine, the new Bucks County Coffee ensures that you stay awake long enough to enjoy your time away from the library, even if it is still spent studying.
