Food as Your Ruse
If you were remiss in stocking your freshman buddy's room with the necessary stockpiles, here are a few tips that will fool even the most vigilant Quad bag–checker.
Ingredients:
Watermelon
Vodka
Cut a whole in the skin of the melon so that the pink flesh is visible. Wedge the bottle into the hole and let the melons soak up contents of the bottle. Place the melon and bottle in fridge and leave it resting until the desired amount of vodka has been absorbed (this process can take a few days, so start today for Saturday). Slice up the melon and stealthily enjoy!
Ingredients:
Gummy bears
Vodka
Glass container (not plastic!)
Place gummy bears in the container and douse in vodka. Cover and refrigerate. Walk into the Quad and Enjoy!
Ingredients:
Franzia white wine
Sugar
Lemon zest
Green grapes
Pour 3 1/2 cups of Franzia white wine into a large bowl or pitcher. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and stir until dissolved. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon zest to the mixture. Submerge 1 1/2 lb of seedless green grapes. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, but not more than a day. Strain the wine mixture into another bowl. Sprinkle grapes with a few more tablespoons of sugar and put them in the freezer for 3–4 hours. Put them in a baggie and enjoy!
[Ed Note: While you wait for the grapes to freeze, add some club soda to the wine mixture to make a delicious wine spritzer.]
VODKA–INFUSED ORANGE SLICES
Combine 1/4 cup of vodka and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Stir until sugar begins to dissolve. Slice 2 oranges — make sure to keep the peel on. Soak oranges in vodka mixture for 2–3 hours.
